About the Films
Surfing 50 States screening 9pm Friday 19th February Cameo Outdoor Cinema
Two young Aussie mates combine their love of filmmaking and surfing as they set out on a quest like no other. Their mission - to surf all 50 states of the USA. This film documents the boys adventures across the country in a converted ice-cream truck, riding their surfboards one way or another in all 50 States. Even though they don’t always find waves, they still manage to ride their boards: surfing icy waves in Alaska, dropping down waterfalls, getting towed by a cowboy and his horse in Texas, sliding down a 15 foot pile of potatoes in Idaho, and 'surfing' in a Wizard Of Oz play in Kansas.
SurfingWorld magazine has described Surfing 50 States as "The best Surf Movie I've seen in ages"... despite the fact the boys can hardly surf. Check out www.surfing50states.com for more info.
Jonno Durrant and Stefan Hunt jointly Produced, Funded, Directed, Filmed, Wrote, Edited, Promoted, Distributed, and Starred in Surfing 50 States (2008), their first feature documentary about their travels to all 50 states of the USA and their attempts to find a way of surfing in each and every state.

Negatives
Philip Houghton
Growing up and growing apart in country Australia, Mary takes photos of the only places she knows before she leaves forever, while Christian loses the only person he knows.
“What we created in this film was an intimate epic. The relationship between the two characters is warm and personal, set on a grandiose of the beaches and forests of Australia. It's down to earth and natural, yet feels like somewhat of a dream. I have the cast and crew to thank for that.” - Philip Houghton

Born in the small coastal city of Geelong, Australia, Philip Houghton set foundations for a film career at a young age, collaborating with friends on short amateur films. Their enthusiasm led them into competing in local short film competitions, including "The Shootout Geelong 24 Hour Film Festival", where he was awarded best under 18 film (2004) and included in the top 10 film (2004 & 2005).
At the age of 18 Philip was accepted into Australia's most prestigious film school, the Victorian College of The Arts School of Film & Television, one of the youngest ever students. Working with professionals Philip developed a strong sense of style and attention to characters. His films have been intimate and personal, based on his experiences growing up in coastal Australia.
